Last time I told you about the day I showed up to a birthday party as the cake plates were being cleared, and how an AI agent took that whole category of screw-up off my plate. A lot of you replied with the same question. Okay, but how do I actually get one?Fair. So that's this post. No fluff. I've set up two different AI agents now, and they sit at opposite ends of the "how technical do I need to be" scale. I'll walk you through both, including the parts that annoyed me.Short version before we start. If you're not technical, skip to Grokbot. If you like tinkering, or you've got a techy friend, Hermes is worth it. Both land in the same place: an agent living in your Telegram that you just talk to.<h2>First, what does "setting it up" even mean? Don't overthink this. Every one of these agents is really three pieces.</h2>The brain (the AI that thinks), the doorway (Telegram, where you talk to it), and the connections (your calendar, your email, whatever you want it to help with). "Setting it up" means plugging those three into each other once. After that you never think about it again. You just message it like a person. You're not building software. You're introducing a few apps to each other.<h2>Option 1: Hermes - More powerful plus a bit technical</h2>Hermes is the one I started with, and it's still what I use every day for the school stuff. It's powerful and flexible. But I'll be straight with you. I did not set this up on my own. A friend of mine is the technical one, and he sat with me for about half an hour to get it connected the first time. That's not a knock on it. Once it was running, it worked, and it hasn't given me trouble since. But if the words "server" or "API key" make your stomach drop, this isn't your starting point, not unless you've got your own version of my friend on hand. There's no shame in that. Mine dropped too.Roughly, the flow looked like this.<ul><li>Get Hermes running (the part my friend handled)</li><li>Connect it to Telegram so I could message it</li><li>Connect my calendar so it could add and read events</li><li>Tell it, in plain English, what to keep an eye on</li></ul><img src="https://9yuyk51qpdygftl7.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/1791214558058-hermesagent.jpg" alt="hermesagent">If you like having full control and don't mind a little setup friction (or you've got someone to help), Hermes pays off. If not, keep reading.<h2>Option 2: Grokbot - Easiest - no tech needed</h2>After Hermes I tried Grokbot out of curiosity, and this is the one I'd hand to my mum. If you're not technical, start here. You can be running in minutes. No code, no friend required. It's Elon Musk's own bot builder, so most of the fiddly connecting is already done for you. You create your agent, connect the apps you use through simple plugins, and then talk to it in plain language. That's the whole thing.Start to finish.<ul><li>Get access through your Grok / xAI account on web or your phone and open the bot builder</li><li>Create your agent and give it a name ( use human names! )</li></ul><ul><li>Add your calendar the same way, through a plugin, and approve the connection</li><li>Message it via the Grok app like you'd text a friend: "add all these dates to my calendar"</li></ul><img src="https://9yuyk51qpdygftl7.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/1791215621314-grokbot1.png" alt="grokbot1"><img src="https://9yuyk51qpdygftl7.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/1791215629694-grokbot2.png" alt="grokbot2"><h2>Connecting your calendar (the part that matters most)</h2>Whichever one you pick, set this up first. It's the connection that changes your day-to-day right away. In plain terms, you give your agent permission to see and add things to your calendar. You approve it once, and after that you just say stuff like:<ul><li>"Add football practice every Tuesday at 5."</li><li>"What does my week look like?"</li><li>"Move my dentist appointment to Thursday."</li></ul>No menus, no forms. You talk, it does. That's the whole trick, and it really is that simple once the connection's made.<h2>So which one should you pick?</h2>Want the easiest possible start and you're not technical? Grokbot. Minutes, no help needed. Want more power and you've got some patience (or a techy friend)? Hermes. Both get you to the same place, that hands-off feeling I wrote about last time. And here's where I'm going with all this. Even Grokbot, easy as it is, still makes you click around and connect a few things. I don't think it should. I think you should be able to have an agent working for you without touching the setup at all. No plugins, no authenticating, none of it. And without needing a friend who knows what an API key is.That's what I'm building. More on that soon. For now, pick one, connect your calendar, and go forget a birthday on purpose, because your agent's got it. With grit and gratitude,&nbsp; The Gritter

Okay, so how do you actually set an agent that works for you?

I once showed up to a kid's birthday party right as it was ending. I'd put the&nbsp;end&nbsp;time into my calendar as the start time. So while everyone was packing up cake plates and herding tired children toward the door, I was just walking in.It's such a small thing. A typo, basically. But I couldn't shake it all day. That specific, quiet parent guilt — the feeling that you let someone down over something you absolutely could have gotten right. I replayed it for hours. And the worst part was knowing it wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last, because I was trying to hold all of it in my own head. That's the thing nobody really tells you about being busy. It's not the doing that wears you down. It's the&nbsp;holding.&nbsp;Tournaments, deadlines, a school email I keep meaning to deal with, a birthday I can't get wrong again, a meeting I half-remember agreeing to. None of it heavy on its own. All of it together, sitting in the back of my mind every single day.I lived like that for years. I thought it was just what busy felt like. You carry everything, you try not to drop anything, and when you drop something anyway, you feel terrible and promise to do better. Then you do it all again next week. And then one day I just — stopped. Not because I got more organized. Because I finally handed it to something else.<h2 id="i-gave-myself-an-agent">I gave myself an agent</h2>I set up an AI agent. And I know how that sounds — like another app, another thing to manage, another login I'll forget about in two weeks. It's not. It lives in Telegram, which is already on my phone, so I just talk to it. Like texting someone who never gets tired, never forgets, and is awake at 6am when I'm not.I'm not going to explain the wiring of it today. That's a story for another post. What I want to tell you is what it feels like now — because that's the part that actually changed my life, and the part nobody warned me about.<blockquote>It didn't save me time. It gave me back the space in my head.</blockquote><h2 id="what-it-actually-does">What it actually does</h2>The school sends one of those endless newsletters with twelve dates buried in it. I used to stare at it and think,&nbsp;I'll deal with that later.&nbsp;Later never came. Now I just forward it. A minute later, every event is in my calendar — with the right start times. The kids don't have to remind me anymore, and honestly, that one got me, because they shouldn't have had to in the first place.Every morning, before the day swallows me, I get a short briefing. Not a wall of notifications — just&nbsp;here's what matters today, here's what's coming.&nbsp; It's like someone leaning in and saying, "Hey, don't forget about this," before I even ask.And it sees everything in one place — the work side and the home side, which used to be two separate worlds I kept colliding in my head. A tournament that clashes with a work trip. A call I booked on a day I should've been at the kids' thing. It catches those before they become a problem, instead of me catching them at midnight with that sinking feeling.Sometimes I don't even use it for tasks. Sometimes I just think out loud to it — a decision I'm chewing on, something I'm trying to figure out. It talks back like someone who actually gets it. I didn't expect to lean on that part as much as I do.<h2 id="heres-the-thing">Here's the thing</h2>You don't need to be technical for any of this. You don't need to understand how it works. You just need to know what you're tired of carrying — and be willing to set it down. That's really what this is. Not a productivity hack. Not a shiny new tool. Just permission to stop holding everything yourself.I'm going to show you how to get your own agent set up — no code, no headaches, nothing you'd need a manual for. That's what the next posts are all about. For now, I just wanted to tell you it's possible, because I wish someone had told me sooner. No more walking in as the cake plates get cleared.More soon.

I set up an AI agent to manage my calendar, my kids' school events, and my wor, no code needed. Here's what changed.

An AI Agent for Everyday Life: How I Stopped Holding It All in My Head

An AI agent for everyday life: how I stopped holding it all in my head

Here's something that keeps most founders up at night: pouring months into building the perfect product, only to launch to silence. The issue isn't the product. It's that nobody knew who you were before you asked them to care about what you built.<h2 id="the-backwards-approach-most-companies-take">The Backwards Approach Most Companies Take</h2>We've been taught a simple formula: build something great, and people will come. Create the best solution, and customers will find you.Except that's not how it works anymore. The market is too noisy. There are too many good products. And attention is the hardest thing to get.And it's getting even harder. In today's AI world, anyone can build a product. Tools are faster, easier, and cheaper than ever. The barrier to creating something isn't technical anymore, it's trust. When everyone can build, the only question that matters is: who do people believe in?Most companies spend 90% of their energy on the product and 10% on the brand. Then they wonder why their brilliant solution gets ignored while weaker products with stronger brands win the market.<h2 id="what-brand-before-product-actually-means">What "Brand Before Product" Actually Means</h2>This isn't about making a logo or having a catchy slogan. It's about building trust and recognition before you ask for a sale.Think about the companies you admire. Chances are, you followed their journey before you bought from them. You read their content, connected with their ideas, or believed in their mission. By the time they launched, you were already sold. That's brand before product. It means showing up consistently with a point of view. It means being helpful and generous with your knowledge before you ever pitch. It means people know what you stand for before they know what you sell.<h2 id="why-this-approach-wins">Why This Approach Wins</h2>When you build your brand first, several things happen:You create an audience that's ready to buy. These aren't strangers you have to convince. They're people who already trust you and understand your thinking. When you launch, they're ready. You get instant feedback on what to build. Your audience tells you what they struggle with, what they need, and what they'd pay for. You're not guessing. You're building exactly what your market wants. You reduce customer costs to nearly zero. When people already know and trust you, you don't need expensive ads or pushy sales. Your brand does the work. You build something that can't be copied. Products get copied. Features get replicated. But a strong brand with deep relationships? That's nearly impossible to duplicate.<h2 id="how-to-actually-do-this">How to Actually Do This</h2>Start by picking your platform and showing up consistently. Write, record, post, or share. Not occasionally. Not when you feel like it. Consistently.Share what you know. Teach what you've learned. Give away your best ideas for free. This feels backward, but generosity builds trust faster than anything else.Have a perspective. Don't just repeat what everyone else is saying. What do you believe that others don't? What are you willing to stand for? Your unique point of view is what makes you memorable.Be patient. This isn't a one-month plan. Building a brand takes time. But here's the thing: that time passes whether you're building or not. Start now.<h2 id="the-proof-is-everywhere">The Proof Is Everywhere</h2>Look at the most successful product launches of the past decade. They almost all followed this pattern. The founders built audiences first, then asked those audiences what they needed. They had thousands of people waiting to buy on day one, not because they had the perfect product, but because they had already proven themselves worth paying attention to.<h2 id="your-move">Your Move</h2>Stop waiting until your product is perfect. Start building your brand today.Share what you're learning. Document your process. Be helpful to people before you ask them for anything.Because when you finally launch, you won't be talking to strangers. You'll be speaking to an audience that's already listening. And that makes all the difference. With grit and gratitude,&nbsp; The Gritter

Most startups build the product first. The best ones build belief, clarity, and brand before writing a single line of code.

Brand Before Product

<h1 id="lets-just-talk-about-the-work">Let's Just Talk About the Work</h1> I had back-to-back meetings today. Different parts of the business, different stakeholders, some about current projects, others about future deals. And sitting through all of them, I kept noticing the same thing.People don't want to talk. Not really talk, anyway. They want to stick to the agenda. Get through the bullet points. "Let's just talk about the work," someone actually said in one meeting today. And I get it, I really do. Time is precious. Meetings can drag. Everyone has a packed calendar. But here's what I kept thinking: that's so not human.I'm not saying every meeting needs to turn into a therapy session or a coffee chat. I understand the value of an agenda. I know why we set time boundaries and focus on deliverables. But there's something we're losing when we strip away all the human parts of our interactions, especially when we're trying to build something together or strike a deal. You can't separate the work from the people doing it. You just can't.When you're negotiating, partnering, collaborating, you're not doing it with a company or a contract. You're doing it with a person. And that person has a story, a day they're having, thoughts beyond the spreadsheet in front of them. The more we try to extract the humanity from these conversations, the more transactional everything becomes. And transactions? They're fragile. They don't weather storms well.I've seen it play out. The deals that stick are the ones where there's actual connection. Where you take two minutes to ask how someone's doing and actually listen to the answer. Where you share something real about what you're navigating. Where you laugh, even briefly, about something that has nothing to do with the agenda. That's not wasted time. That's the foundation.Because when things get hard, when the project hits a snag, when someone needs to go the extra mile, they're not doing it for agenda item #3. They're doing it because they care about the person on the other side of the table. Because somewhere along the way, you became more than just a business contact. So yeah, let's talk about the work. But let's also remember that the work gets done by humans. And humans need connection. They need to be seen as more than their function in a meeting. If you want to strike a deal, close a partnership, build something that lasts? Don't skip the human part. It might be the most important thing on your agenda. With grit and gratitude,&nbsp; The Gritter

Let's just talk about the work,' they said. But business isn't transactional, t's human. Here's why connection matters more than agendas

Your Business Meetings Need More Humanity, Not Just Agendas

Let's Just Talk About the Work

Last week, my son was sick. Not dramatically. Not dangerously. Just sick enough to stretch everything.A full week of broken nights, cancelled plans, unfinished work. That little math every parent does: What gives today? What waits? What matters most? This is where grit stops being a concept and becomes practice. What discipline actually looked likeDiscipline wasn't productivity. It was getting up again. Wiping foreheads. Measuring time in hours, not outcomes. It was choosing presence over performance, without turning the week into an excuse. Some things still had to be done. Just slower. Just quieter.Nothing was balanced. Work moved down the list. Sleep followed. Control disappeared completely. Tradeoffs weren't negotiated—they were accepted.Long timelines save youA bad week doesn't define a life. That sounds obvious, until you're in it.Long timelines are what stop temporary chaos from rewriting permanent identity. They let you say: This week counts, but it doesn't decide everything.Progress didn't vanish. It just waited. The part no one postsI was tired. Impatient at moments. Less generous than I like to believe I am.Self-honesty isn't self-criticism. It's refusing to lie about capacity. Some days weren't graceful. They were still committed. And that counts. What grit actually isThis is what grit looks like when it's not heroic:<ul><li>Not pushing harder, but staying without pretending it's easy</li><li>Discipline without rigidity</li><li>Tradeoffs without bitterness</li><li>Long timelines without panic</li><li>Self-honesty without shame</li></ul>A week like this doesn't set you back. It teaches your wishes how to grow up.And then, when the fever breaks, when the house quiets, when life resumes—you're still standing. Not because it was smooth. Because you didn't quit on a bad week. With grit and gratitude,&nbsp; The Gritter

A personal reflection on parenting, discipline, and long timelines when a week breaks your plans. Grit isn’t control, it’s staying.

A Week Like This

Grit is what lets wishes grow up.This year doesn’t need louder dreams. It needs mature ones.Wishes are easy to make. They feel clean. Untouched. Full of potential. But most wishes don’t fail because they’re wrong. They fail because they never agree to the work.In 2026, let’s stop confusing wanting with building.A wish grows up through:<ul><li>Discipline — showing up after the feeling passes</li><li>Tradeoffs — choosing what matters and letting the rest wait</li><li>Long timelines — allowing progress to be quiet and uneven</li><li>Self-honesty — telling the truth about effort, limits, and desire</li></ul>This is not about having everything. It’s about sequencing a full life. Some years are for planting. Some are for carrying. Some are for waiting longer than planned.Grit isn’t aggression. It’s commitment without drama. It doesn’t kill wishes. It teaches them how to survive reality. If 2026 is the year your wishes grow up, they won’t look louder. They’ll look steadier. And that’s how real things begin. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Some Weeks Fall Apart. I Keep Walking.

2026

We rush through life, meetings, messages, routines. Always trying to catch up with time that keeps running ahead. But sometimes, time stops for a second. Like when you look up and see the moon hanging above a mountain. Silent. Steady. Unbothered by how fast we’re moving. It’s a reminder that not everything needs to be done, achieved, or chased. Some things are just meant to be felt. Like warmth on your face. Or laughter from someone you love.We talk so much about growth, but maybe what we really need is stillness. Because when you pause, you don’t lose time. You gain life. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

In a world that never stops, pause. This short reflection is a reminder to slow down, breathe, and notice the quiet beauty hidden in your everyday moments.

The Still Moments | The Grit Log

The Still Moments

Tonight I made pizza. Not the kind you knead, rise, and lovingly stretch with your hands. The quick one. The one where the dough comes ready, and all you have to do is throw on some sauce, cheese, and whatever you find in the fridge.Five minutes later the kitchen smells like love anyway. And yet that small voice appears, asking “Am I a bad mom for not cooking from scratch?” “Should I have made something healthier?”We live in a world where parenting feels like a competition. Homemade meals, sugar-free snacks, perfectly packed lunchboxes. But the truth is, love doesn’t need to be organic or gluten-free to count.Sometimes being a good mom means knowing when to let go. When to say this is enough. When to order takeout, skip the homemade sauce, or simply sit down and eat with your kids without rushing somewhere else.Because our kids don’t remember how long we spent cooking. They remember the laughter, the stories, the smell of melted cheese, and the feeling of being seen.So no, you’re not a bad mom. You’re a real one. And that’s better than perfect. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Sometimes parenting means choosing ease over perfection. A story about quick pizza, love, and letting go of guilt.

Am I a Bad Mom?

It’s not because I have all the answers. It’s because of moments like yesterday. I met a woman who reminded me what this work is really about. Months ago, she joined one of my mentoring sessions for early-stage startups. During her pitch, I told her something simple but honest — a pitch alone isn’t enough. You need to build. You need to show it. Create a prototype.I didn’t know if she would take it seriously. But four weeks later, she reached out and asked to meet again. When we sat down, she opened her laptop and showed me what she had built, almost a full version of her product, coded from scratch, without any fancy tools like Windsurf. I was speechless. Grateful. Proud. Inspired. She’s a mother of four. She has a full-time leadership role. She wakes up at 5 a.m., prepares breakfast and dinner, runs a few kilometers, gets her kids ready for school, goes to work, comes home, and codes her idea at night. That’s why I love mentoring. Because every now and then, you meet someone who doesn’t just listen, they act. They take advice, shape it, make it theirs, and move forward, no excuses, just quiet consistency.Mentoring for me is not about teaching. It’s about witnessing someone’s spark and helping protect it from doubt until it’s strong enough to burn on its own. It’s about those quiet moments when you realize that a small conversation, a bit of encouragement, or one honest sentence can change someone’s direction. And that’s the beauty of it. You never really know the ripple your words will create. 🌱 With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

A story about a mother of four who turned advice into action, built a prototype in four weeks, and reminded me why I love mentoring.

Why I Love Mentoring and the Power of Taking Action

Why I love mentoring

I’ve always been gritty in many parts of my life. Especially in business. In building, leading, creating, surviving. I was the one who stayed strong when things got hard, who kept pushing when others stopped. But when it came to training, that grit wasn’t always there. I had good periods and then I would stop. There was always a reason. Too much work. Too tired. Too many things happening at once. And while all of that was true, deep down I knew I wasn’t being fully honest with myself. In August this year I decided to change that. I made a commitment to be as disciplined with my body as I am with my business. To stop treating training like something extra and start seeing it as something essential.Because when you take care of yourself, you can carry more for others. You think clearer, you lead better, you love deeper. For the past two months I’ve been working with a private trainer. I follow a program, I track everything in an app, I check in every day. I weigh myself, I measure, I take progress photos. It’s not always easy, but it’s honest work. And after two months, I’ve lost ten centimeters around my waist. But what matters even more is that I’ve gained something else, a quiet sense of pride. The kind that comes when you know you’re finally doing what you said you would. So this is my goal for this year and the next one. To become truly gritty in this area too. Because grit isn’t just for business or success. It’s for life. It’s how we show up for ourselves first, so we can give more to others later. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

After years of grit in business, I finally turned that same energy toward my body.

Gym Grit: The Discipline I Owed Myself

Getting advice is easy. Acting on it, that’s where most people stop.We love to collect mentors, join programs, listen to podcasts, read books. But advice only has value when it becomes action. It’s not about saying “I have great mentors.” It’s about showing it through changed behavior, improved decisions, and visible progress.Every time an advisor tells you something uncomfortable, that’s a mirror. You can either defend yourself or look closer. The bravest founders don’t collect advice. They apply it fast, test it, and come back with results. That’s how growth compounds. Not from more input, but from quicker implementation.Because the real mentorship happens after the conversation, when you face reality, adjust your behavior, and do the work.So next time someone you respect gives you advice, don’t just write it down. Apply it. Show them you listened. That’s how you turn mentors into allies and advice into power. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Advice only matters when you act on it. Real growth happens when you apply what mentors say and turn their wisdom into visible change.

Act on Advice: Growth Begins When You Apply It

Act on Advice

Today, everyone is posting. Founders, students, professionals, all trying to grab attention. But here’s the catch: If there’s no real work behind your words, your content is weightless. People don’t trust posts. They trust proof. They trust the founder who shipped a product, the team who solved a hard problem, the person who lived through failure and came back stronger. That’s why some voices cut through the noise. Because they’re not just talking ,they’ve done it. Ask yourself:What am I building that gives weight to my words? What lessons am I earning that I can share?Where’s my proof of work? When you build first, your content stops being performance. It becomes evidence. Evidence of grit. Of progress. Of something real. So don’t just post. Build. And then let your content carry the weight of the work. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Don’t just post content; build first. Content gains weight when it’s backed by real work, lessons, and proof of progress.

Don’t Just Post Conten. Build Something Real First

Today I spent three hours in a mentoring session. Thirteen founders. Thirteen stories. Thirteen dreams.Mentoring is Not About AnswersWhat struck me is that mentoring isn’t about handing out solutions. It’s about asking the right questions. It’s about sharing a suggestion, offering a comment, or connecting someone to a person who can help. And most importantly, it’s about doing all of that with no expectation in return. Just the intention to help. The Energy of Giving Without Expecting That’s where the real power is.Even after three hours online, I didn’t feel drained. I felt inspired. Because I got to witness people building something bigger than themselves, trying to meet real needs, chasing their vision, and daring to dream.Helping someone else move forward might be one of the purest forms of progress. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

I mentored 13 founders for three hours—and left inspired, not drained. True mentorship is about asking, connecting, and giving without return.

Tonight, I was reading bedtime stories to my boys. Tomorrow, they step into new beginnings, one into 4th grade, the other into 1st. As I looked at them tucked in, ready to drift off, my eyes filled with tears. How did we get here so fast? This is the silent battle so many of us mothers, fathers, founders, dreamers, carry in our hearts. Time feels like it slips through our fingers. Our children grow taller, wiser, more themselves every single day, while we wrestle with the guilt of not being “there enough.”But here’s the truth: we were there. In the way we knew how. With what we had. With who we were at the time. And maybe that’s exactly how it was supposed to be.As parents and entrepreneurs, our lives often feel like a constant negotiation with time. We stretch it, borrow from it, try to control it. And still, it runs. Yet if we pause for just a moment, we see what our children need most is not a perfectly orchestrated timeline, but us, being present in the moments that matter. The story, the hug, the laughter, the messy dinner, the whispered “goodnight.” Those are the moments that write themselves into their memory. So tonight, as my heart softened watching my children sleep, I reminded myself of this: We don’t need to ask “what if I had done it differently?” It unfolded exactly the way it was meant to.Time will keep moving. Our kids will keep growing. But what matters most is not how much time we had—it’s how much love we poured into the time we got.And that, we always have control over. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Parents who are also entrepreneurs often feel guilt. But time with our kids is never too little—it’s exactly as it should be, and always enough.

Somewhere between back-to-back calls, hiring plans, investor decks, and solving “urgent but not important” things, I forgot. I forgot that I’m not just a founder.I’m a human being. And humans need outlets. This weekend, I painted. Not for an event. Not for content. Not even for the sake of getting better at it.I painted just to breathe.I spent the afternoon with my sister, surrounded by kind people and colors I didn’t overthink. There was no pressure to produce. Just to be. To laugh. To play. To let go. And in the middle of all that… I felt something crack open. A softness. A stillness. A remembering. This is not a post about art. It’s a post about reclaiming parts of yourself that your calendar doesn’t budget for.<h2 id="%E2%9A%99%EF%B8%8F-founders-are-machines-until-we%E2%80%99re-not">⚙️ Founders Are Machines. Until We’re Not</h2>We optimize. We plan. We automate. We scale. And sometimes, we forget that healing doesn’t happen in sprint cycles.Sometimes, we need non-performative time.Moments that don’t serve an objective.I didn’t need ROI from this day.I just needed to feel like myself again.<h2 id="%F0%9F%92%A1-a-note-to-you-and-to-myself">💡 A Note to You (and to Myself)</h2>If you’re reading this and thinking, “I don’t have time for this,”That’s exactly when you need it.Call a friend. Creativity isn’t a hobby—it’s a founder’s survival tool. A creative outlet fuels resilience, prevents burnout, and strengthens leadership.

Why Every Founder Needs a Creative Outlet

Today at a Demo Day event, I had a fireside chat in front of a group of young founders, most of them first-time founders.Among other things, I touched on the importance of creating content and sharing your story. And while I was speaking to them, I was also thinking about myself. Because for a long time, that was my biggest block.I didn’t want to share. Not because I didn’t have something to say. But because I didn’t want to be exposed. I didn’t want to be judged. I wanted it to be perfect. And when you want it to be perfect, you never actually start. You wait. You overthink. You rewrite. You talk yourself out of it. You tell yourself it's not the right moment. Not the right version. Not ready yet. There was a quiet fear underneath all that. Fear of shame. Fear of being misunderstood. Of someone thinking less of me. Of failing in public. And I know I’m not the only one. Women feel this deeply. But not just women. Anyone who’s been raised to play it safe, to not take up space, to stay quiet unless they’re sure. What I’ve learned slowly, through doing, is that waiting for perfect is just another way of hiding. You don’t need a content strategy. You don’t need a perfect grid. You just need to say something real. That’s what people feel. That’s what creates connection. That’s what makes others trust you.Today, in that room full of early-stage founders, I could see how even one honest story can make a difference. You could feel the shift, that moment when someone realizes they’re not alone in the fear or the mess or the doubt. If what you’ve lived through can help someone move forward, save them time, or just make them feel seen, share it.Even if it’s not polished. Even if it’s still raw.Imperfect and true is always better than perfect and silent. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

Don’t hold back what you know. It could be exactly what someone needs to grow or begin.

Why You Should Share What You Know With the World

Share What You Know

Today was a first. Not my first time training. Not my first time with a personal trainer. But my first time bringing my son to the gym with me. And something about that changed everything.Tomorrow, he turns 10. Double digits. And today, as a little early celebration, he came along to see what “Mom’s workouts” are really all about. He was buzzing. Eyes wide, curious, bouncing around the space like it was a jungle gym. He sat on the slide between exercises, pretending to be my coach. At one point, I literally had to pause my set so I could slide him down like we were in the park.It was pure joy. Chaos and connection. A reminder that discipline and play are not opposites, they’re teammates. And while I was pushing through reps on the first day of my cycle (which, let’s be honest, is not the easiest time to train), that moment made everything feel lighter. But what really stayed with me, what genuinely moved me, was something small he said:<blockquote>“Mom… I don’t want to lie to the people in the gym and say I’m 11. I’m turning 10 tomorrow. I can’t lie.”</blockquote>That. That right there is the kind of thing that makes you stop and breathe in the moment. Because sure, it’s a small thing. A tiny white lie avoided. But it’s also a glimpse into who he’s becoming someone honest, thoughtful, and brave enough to say, “This is who I really am.” And that’s what this blog is really about Grit, yes, but also growth. Showing up when it's hard. Leading by example. Creating moments that feel small but shape everything. It reminded me of the kind of strength that doesn’t come from lifting weights. And it made me proud, not just of him, but of the values we’re building together. In three days, I’ll turn 36. And today this funny, sweaty, joyful, slightly chaotic day in the gym is exactly how I want to step into it.Because they are the big things. With grit and gratitude, The Gritter

A simple gym session turned into an unforgettable moment. Not because of the workout, but because of what it revealed about me.

The Gym Session I’ll Never Forget, and Why It Mattered

A Gym Session I’ll Never Forget

The First Step at 4 AM I couldn’t sleep. The kids were tucked in. The house was clean. The dishwasher hummed softly in the background. But my mind? My mind was loud.I did what we all do when the night feels too long, I reached for my phone. One scroll turned into another, diving from one piece of content to the next. Consuming, consuming, consuming. And then it hit me: This isn’t it. Scrolling isn’t creating. Watching isn’t sharing. Consuming isn’t living. I realized I didn’t want to scroll my way through another sleepless night. I wanted to create something that mattered. I wanted to share. A Word Appeared I sat up. Grabbed a pen. Let the thoughts tumble out. They were messy at first, a flood of half-formed ideas, fragments of stories, and scattered questions. But then, clarity struck. A single word surfaced: grit. Grit is what gets us through. It’s what pushes us forward when everything feels uncertain, when the path is unclear, when we don’t feel ready but show up anyway. It’s not about polish or perfection. It’s about resilience, persistence, and finding a way.And so, TheGritLog was born. What It’s For This isn’t a manifesto. It’s not a polished vision or a 10-year plan. It’s a log—a collection of thoughts, lessons, and stories. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s for anyone who’s awake at 4 AM, wondering, “What now?” For the restless, the doers, the ones who don’t always have the answers but keep showing up anyway. Done Is Better Than Perfect Sometimes, starting is enough. Here it is: TheGritLog. A space for resilience, for reflection, for the messy in-between moments. It’s not perfect, but it’s real. What will you start tonight? With grit and gratitude, The Gritter
